Pump stopped? Start here.

Trusted Pool Pump Repair Across Georgia

A pool pump that has stopped circulating is an urgent problem, not a maintenance item: water quality falls away within days and other equipment can be damaged in the meantime. Call us and we will diagnose it, tell you whether it is worth repairing, and get the water moving again. Aqualis Pools also takes on projects across Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.

Pumps announce themselves before they fail completely. The usual signs are unusual noise, especially a grinding or screeching bearing; reduced flow or weak returns; visible leaking around the housing or seals; a pump that trips the breaker; or one that simply will not start.

Underneath those symptoms the cause is normally one of a short list: worn seals, a failed capacitor, bearings at the end of their life, a blocked impeller, or an electrical fault. Several of those are inexpensive parts. Some of them are not worth fixing on an old pump, which is the next section.

Repair or Replace, and How We Decide

Not every failed pump is worth repairing, and we would rather say so before taking the work than after. Seals, capacitors and impellers on a reasonably modern pump are usually a straightforward repair. A motor that has failed on an old single-speed pump is a different calculation, because the repair cost can approach the cost of a new unit that will use considerably less power.

That is the conversation worth having properly. A variable speed pump runs at lower speeds for longer instead of full speed in short bursts, which uses less electricity than an equivalent single-speed unit doing the same filtration. If your pump has died and it is old, the honest question is not how to fix it but whether fixing it is throwing money at something you will replace within two seasons anyway.

Where replacement is the better answer, that sits under pool equipment upgrades, and we will price both options so you can choose rather than being told

How a Repair Visit Runs

We inspect the pump and the system around it, because a pump that keeps failing is often being asked to do something the plumbing or filtration is making harder. The check covers mechanical wear, electrical faults, and circulation problems upstream and downstream of the pump itself.

You get the diagnosis and the options before any work starts, including the honest version of whether the repair is worth it. Most repairs are completed within a few hours once we are on site; complex faults take longer if parts have to be ordered.

What Pump Repair Costs

It depends on which part has failed and whether the pump is worth putting money into. Seals and capacitors sit at one end of the range; a motor replacement on an ageing pump sits at the other, and at that point a new variable speed unit is usually the better spend.

Financing is available for larger equipment work, explained on our pool financing options page.

While the System Is Open

If the pump has failed, it is worth asking what else is the same age. The heater is the usual companion, covered under pool heater repair, and if you have been considering saltwater conversion, replacing a pump is a sensible moment to make sure the new equipment is salt-compatible from the start rather than retrofitting later.

Frequently Asked Questions

The common signs are unusual noise, reduced water flow, visible leaks, a pump that trips the breaker, or one that will not start at all. Poor circulation and water that will not stay clear point the same way. If you notice any of these, have it inspected rather than waiting, because a struggling pump can damage other equipment.

It depends on the age of the pump and which part has failed. Seals, capacitors and impellers are usually worth repairing. A failed motor on an old single-speed pump often is not, because the repair cost approaches that of a new variable speed unit that will cost less to run. We price both and tell you which we would choose.

Most repairs are completed within a few hours once we are on site. More complex faults take longer if a part has to be ordered, and you get a clear timeline before any work starts.

Will a new pump really lower my energy bill?

A variable speed pump running longer at lower speed uses less electricity than an equivalent single-speed pump doing the same filtration work, which is why they have largely replaced single-speed units on new builds.

Get the Water Moving Again

Two things help before you call: what the pump is doing, whether that is silence, noise, leaking or tripping, and roughly how old it is. Those two answers usually tell us whether this is a repair or a replacement conversation before we arrive.
