A barrier is only as good as its gate.
Pool Fencing and Safety Across Georgia
A pool barrier separates a small child from water when nobody is watching, which is the only time it matters. We install fencing designed and fitted to do that job properly, and we will tell you plainly what it does and does not cover. Aqualis Pools also takes on projects across Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.
Built for Protection Without Compromising Design
What a Pool Barrier Does, and What It Does Not
A barrier buys time. It removes the possibility that a child who is out of sight for two minutes reaches the water in those two minutes. That is a narrow job and an important one, and it is the whole of what a fence does.
What it does not do is make a pool safe on its own. Barriers are one layer. The others are gate hardware that closes and latches every time without anyone thinking about it, adult supervision when the pool is in use, and in many households an alarm or a cover as well. Anyone who tells you a fence solves the problem is selling you a fence.
We would rather say that plainly than let a barrier do more reassuring than protecting.
What Makes a Barrier Actually Work
The material matters less than the detail does. What matters is the detail, and this is where installed barriers fail in practice.
The gate. Gates are where barriers fail in practice: propped open, latch broken, hinge sagging so it no longer closes. A gate should close and latch by itself, every time, with nobody remembering to do anything.
The latch, and its height. A latch a small child can reach is not a latch. Placement matters as much as the mechanism.
The gap underneath. A child does not need a door. Ground clearance is checked along the whole run, not just where the ground is flat.
What is next to it. A barrier with a planter, a bin, a bench or an air-conditioning unit beside it is a barrier with a step next to it. This is the one homeowners recreate themselves months after installation, so it is worth saying out loud.
Whether it stays that way. Hardware wears. A gate that self-latched on the day it was fitted may not two summers later, which is why checking it is a household habit rather than a one-off.
Fencing Types, and Who Each One Suits
Mesh. Removable panels on posts set into the deck. Popular with families of young children because it can be taken down when the children are older, and because it is comparatively affordable. It is the option most parents are shopping for even if they do not know the name.
Aluminium. Permanent, low maintenance and the common choice for a fence that is part of the garden rather than a temporary measure.
Glass. The least visually intrusive and the most expensive. It suits a pool where the view is the point. The honest caveat is that it shows every mark and needs cleaning far more often than the brochures suggest.
Once the design is finalized, our skilled team installs your fencing and safety systems with precision and attention to detail. We ensure proper placement, secure anchoring, and compliance with safety standards. Whether your project includes surrounding elements like pool decking, relaxation features such as spillover spas and hot tubs, or additional enhancements, we deliver a seamless and durable solution you can rely on.
What Pool Fencing Costs
Cost follows the run length, the material, and how many gates are needed. Mesh is usually the most affordable, aluminium sits in the middle, and glass is the most expensive by a clear margin. Gates cost more per foot than fence, so a layout needing three gates is not the same job as one needing one.
Financing is available where fencing forms part of a larger project, explained on our pool financing options page.
Fitting a Barrier Around an Existing Pool
Fencing can be added to any existing pool, and the practical questions are where the posts go and how the gates fall relative to the doors people actually use. If pool decking work is planned, fit the fencing at the same time, because posts set into new deck are tidier and cheaper than posts cored into old deck. And if you are lighting the area, pool lighting on the gate and the path to it is worth more than lighting the water, for the obvious reason.

Frequently Asked Questions
In many areas, pool fencing is required to meet safety regulations and building codes. Requirements can vary depending on your location. We ensure your fencing meets all necessary standards for compliance and safety.
Mesh suits families with small children, because it is removable once the children are older and comparatively affordable. Whatever the material, the parts that matter are the gate, the latch and its height, and the gap underneath.
Yes. We look at where posts can go, how the gates relate to the doors your household actually uses, and whether anything nearby could be climbed. Installation is usually a few days depending on the run and the number of gates.
No, and it is worth being direct about that. A barrier removes one route to the water when nobody is watching. It works alongside gate hardware that latches every time, supervision whenever the pool is in use, and for many households an alarm or cover as well. A fence is a layer, not a solution.
Modern fencing is far less intrusive than older designs. Glass is close to invisible at a price, aluminium reads as garden fencing, and mesh can be taken down for the season or for good once children are older.

Two answers get most of the way to a quote: roughly how long the run needs to be, and how many gates the household actually needs, which is usually fewer than people first think. It is worth walking the boundary before you call.
