Professional Pool Deck Resurfacing Across Georgia

A pool deck takes sun, water, chemicals and bare feet all season. When it cracks, fades, roughens or turns slippery, resurfacing puts a new finish over the existing slab instead of tearing it out. Aqualis Pools also takes on projects across Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.

Resurfacing goes over the concrete you already have. The existing slab is cleaned, cracks and surface damage are repaired, the surface is levelled, and a new coating or finish goes on top. The slab stays where it is, which is what makes this considerably cheaper and faster than replacement.

What it is not: a fix for a slab that has failed. If the concrete has shifted, sunk, or cracked structurally rather than superficially, a new coating over the top will crack again along the same lines. We will tell you that at the assessment rather than after the work.

And it is not pool resurfacing, which is the different job of replacing the finish inside the pool shell. The two are constantly confused, they are usually worth doing together, and they are priced separately.

How the Work Runs

It starts with an assessment of the existing deck: where it is cracked, how worn the surface is, whether the damage is cosmetic or structural, and how the deck drains. That last one matters more than people expect, because water sitting on a deck is what shortens the life of any finish put on it.

From there the surface is cleaned and prepared, cracks and damage are repaired, the deck is levelled where it needs it, and the new finish is applied. Most projects are completed within a few days to a week depending on the size and condition of the deck, and you get a clear schedule during the consultation.

Design decisions made before the coating goes down

The finish itself.

Texture, colour and the type of coating decide how the deck looks, how it feels underfoot, and how it behaves when wet.

Surface temperature.

Deck surfaces in a Georgia summer get hot enough to matter to bare feet, and lighter colours and certain finishes stay cooler than others. Worth deciding deliberately rather than by appearance alone.

Slip resistance.

A pool deck is a wet surface people walk on barefoot, often children. Texture is a safety decision, not a style one.

Drainage.

If water pools on the deck now, resurfacing is the moment to correct the fall rather than seal the problem under a new finish.

What else is happening.

If the pool interior is also tired, doing pool resurfacing at the same time means one mobilisation and one disruption instead of two.

What Deck Resurfacing Costs

Cost follows three things: the square footage of the deck, how much repair and levelling the existing slab needs before anything can be applied, and which finish you choose. A sound deck needing a straightforward recoat sits at one end; a cracked, uneven deck needing significant preparation sits at the other.

Against that, resurfacing is materially cheaper than removing and repouring a slab, which is usually the real comparison being weighed.

Financing is available if you would rather spread the cost, explained on our pool financing options page.

Doing It Alongside Other Work

The deck is usually not the only thing showing its age. Where the pool interior needs attention too, pool resurfacing is the natural pairing. Where the equipment is old, a pool remodeling project can cover the deck, the finish and the equipment upgrades in one programme. And where the deck is being worked on anyway, extending into paver patios or wider hardscaping costs less than returning to do it later.

Frequently Asked Questions

The usual signs are cracking, fading, a surface that has turned rough underfoot, or one that has become slippery when wet. If the deck looks worn or feels unsafe, resurfacing is normally the answer. We assess it and tell you whether the damage is cosmetic, which resurfacing solves, or structural, which it does not.Can resurfacing fix cracks in my deck?

Minor cracks and surface damage are repaired as part of the preparation before the new finish goes on. Severe or structural cracking is a different problem: a coating over a slab that is still moving will crack again in the same place, so that needs addressing first.

Most projects are completed within a few days to a week, depending on the size and condition of the deck. Additional work extends that, and you get a clear schedule during the consultation.

It depends on the material used, how well the deck drains, and the weather it takes.

Pool resurfacing replaces the finish inside the pool, the surface you swim against. Deck resurfacing replaces the finish on the concrete around it, the surface you walk on. Different materials, different processes, different prices, and they are frequently done together. See pool resurfacing for the interior job.

Two answers get close to a quote: roughly how large the deck is, and what it is doing that bothers you, whether that is cracking, heat, roughness or slipperiness. The assessment settles the rest.
