Reliable Pool Heater Repair Across Georgia

A heater that has stopped working takes weeks off your swimming season at both ends of the year. We diagnose the fault, tell you honestly whether the unit is worth repairing, and get the water back to temperature. Aqualis Pools also takes on projects across Florida, Georgia, and South Carolina.

What Usually Goes Wrong

Heaters tend to fail gradually rather than suddenly. The signs are water that never quite reaches temperature, a unit that fires and then cuts out, longer and longer heating times for the same result, error codes on the display, or rising gas or electricity bills for no obvious reason.

Behind those symptoms the usual suspects are a scaled or corroded heat exchanger, ignition or flame sensor faults, a failed pressure switch, restricted water flow through the unit, or straightforward age. Water chemistry is a common underlying cause, because unbalanced water attacks the heat exchanger from the inside, which is why a heater that has failed early is often telling you something about the water rather than about itself.

Repair or Replace, and Which Type of Heater

Two decisions arrive at once when a heater fails, and most pages only answer the first. The first is whether this unit is worth fixing. The second is whether the replacement should be the same type of machine.

Gas heaters heat fast and work in cold weather, which suits people who want the pool warm on demand for a weekend rather than warm all season. They cost more to run per hour and they involve combustion, which is why the credentials question in the alerts matters.

Heat pumps move heat from the air rather than burning fuel, so they are cheaper to run but slower to heat and less effective as the air temperature drops. They suit maintaining a temperature over a long season rather than raising one quickly.

The honest version is that the right answer depends on how you use the pool, not on which machine is better. Somebody who swims most days from April to October and somebody who wants the pool hot for two weekends a year should not buy the same heater.

Where replacement is the better answer, that sits under pool equipment upgrades, and we will price repair and replacement side by side rather than steering you.

How a Repair Visit Runs

We inspect the heater and the system feeding it, because a heater that keeps failing is frequently being damaged by something upstream: poor flow, or water chemistry that is quietly eating the heat exchanger. The check covers the burner or compressor, the heat exchanger, the electrical connections and the controls.

You get the diagnosis and the options before work starts. Most repairs are completed within a few hours once we are on site; complex faults take longer if a part has to be ordered.

What Heater Repair Costs

It depends on which component has failed and on the age of the unit. Ignition components and sensors sit at the lower end. A failed heat exchanger is the expensive one, and on an older heater it is usually the point at which replacement makes more sense than repair.

Financing is available for larger equipment work, explained on our pool financing options page.

While Someone Is Out

A heater rarely fails in isolation on an older system. The pump is usually the same age, covered under pool pump repair, and if you are considering saltwater conversion, it is worth knowing that salt-compatible equipment matters for heaters specifically, so that decision is better made before a heater is replaced rather than after.

Frequently Asked Questions

The usual signs are water that will not reach temperature, a unit that fires then cuts out, heating times getting longer for the same result, error codes, or fuel bills climbing without an obvious reason. Any of those is worth inspecting rather than waiting, because several of them get more expensive the longer they run.

It depends on the component and the age of the unit. Ignition parts, sensors and controls are usually worth repairing. A failed heat exchanger on an older heater generally is not, because the repair approaches the cost of a new unit. We price both and tell you which we would choose in your position.

Most repairs are completed within a few hours once we are on site. Complex faults take longer where a part has to be ordered, and heater parts are more often model-specific than pump parts. You get a clear timeline before any work starts.

Neither is better in the abstract. Gas heats quickly and works in cold weather but costs more per hour to run. A heat pump costs less to run but heats slowly and loses effectiveness as the air cools. Choose on how you use the pool: on-demand warmth for occasional weekends points to gas, holding a temperature across a long season points to a heat pump.

Frequently the water rather than the heater. Unbalanced water corrodes or scales a heat exchanger from the inside, and a heater that has failed early is often the first visible symptom of a chemistry problem that needs solving too, otherwise the replacement will go the same way.

Get the Pool Warm Again

Two things help before you call: what the heater is doing, whether that is nothing at all, cutting out, or simply not getting there, and roughly how old it is. Those usually tell us whether this is a repair or a replacement conversation before we arrive.
